About The Event
Calling all Pickle Lovers! Our January Demo Dinner will be a pickling demo, with four courses dedicated to the art of fermentation. Chef Rick will teach you how to make each course before you devour it, and in between courses, our Fermentologist (yes, that's her actual title) Mandy will give lessons on pickling and fermenting vinegar-brined vegetables, sour dill pickles and sauerkraut! And, of course, as you eat and learn and pickle, you'll also be drinking City Acre's finest beers in the parlor of City Acre manor.
You'll go home with a full tummy, recipes for all four courses and a brain stuffed with brand-new knowledge about pickling! After all, as the German proverb goes: "Pickles are vegetables to be relished."
Course One:
Build Your Own Appetizer
Learn about a unique take on cheese with a fermented vegan cheese and build an app out of it with house-made crackers and assorted pickled veg.
Course Two:
Pickled Beet Salad
Fresh greens from City Acre's garden made with pickled beets, pecans and goat cheese
Course Three:
Sauerbraten
A German pot roast marinated in vinegar and herbs and served with miso and ginger root vegetables
Course Four:
Kefir Ice Cream
Kefir is a fermented milk drink that makes an incredible frozen dessert, and we're serving it with fermented cinnamon apples
